Havertown is home to one of five Surrey locations. It is open 9 - 4, Monday - Friday.
Surrey - Havertown is a vibrant senior community center located in a residential section of Havertown, in Haverford Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. This location, formerly known as the Havertown Senior Center, has been providing innovative and effective programs, services and opportunities for adults 55+ since 1984. Participants come from several townships within Delaware County, as well as from Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.
Surrey Services for Seniors provides transportation, activities, home care, and volunteer opportunities for older adults in Chester County, Delaware County and parts of Montgomery County.
All of our programs are designed to enable adults 55 and over to:
- Live independently -- with dignity and self-reliance -- in their own homes
- Continue to be active, productive members of our community
Surrey's comprehensive range of services is essential for older people needing help to continue living at home.
Surrey - Havertown’s Home Delivered Meals program delivers 15-20 meals each day to homebound older adults living in the Haverford Township and Marple-Newtown Township areas. This program is successful through volunteers who not only pack and deliver a nutritious meal, but who also provide a warm greeting to someone for whom this may be their only human connection that day. Call 610-446-2070 for more information.
We accept donations of gently used household items for sale at The Surrey Thrift Shop, located in Broomall.
Funding for Surrey - Havertown is provided in part by the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Classes & Activities
Surrey's activities offer something for everyone: a world of learning, achieving and discovering. From the museum to the casino, from the lecture series to the exercise class, Surrey strives to address the mental, physical and social needs of our members.
Our goal is to help people create a new world for themselves, to make new friends, enjoy new experiences, and build on their own sense of self-worth, not just through involvement in activities, but by helping others.
Intergenerational activities keep us in touch with the younger generation. Fitness programs offer workouts for the athletic and the armchair-bound. Outings to local restaurants tempt taste buds and build friendships.
Our mission is to make these programs available to everyone regardless of ability to pay, and we subsidize fees as needed.
