Longtime Delaware County educational community volunteer to join Surrey board.


Devon, PA.  November 21, 2017. Surrey Services for Seniors is pleased to announce Jayne Bacon Garrison has joined its Board of Directors. Ms. Garrison is best known for her long association with the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P. I. T.) a college founded by she and her husband, Walter R. Garrison.

“Jayne Garrison has an incredible amount of experience volunteering with and serving on the boards of notable nonprofits in Pennsylvania ,” said Bob Madonna, Surrey’s President and CEO.  “Her enthusiasm and involvement will help us further our mission, particularly in Delaware County, to help older adults live with independence and dignity and to continue as engaged members of the community.”

Some of Mrs. Garrison’s accomplishments include:
• Chief Operating Officer and member of the Board of Trustees for Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P. I. T.)
• She has served on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia since 1995. In 2009, she was presented with its Atlas Award for her lifelong work in education. Mrs. Garrison was the first woman to be some honored.
• Mrs. Garrison has served on the Delaware County Historical Society as Chair, member and supporter since 1996.
• In 2009, she was honored to receive the Main Line “Women on the Move” award.
• She was also selected as one of the five women honored with the KYW News radio 1020’s Women’s Achievement Award in 2010.
• In 2006, she was honored with an International Athena Award in recognition of her years supporting, developing and inspiring women with educational opportunities.
• In 2005, she and her husband were recognized with the Humanitarian Award by the American Red Cross.
