Surrey Services for Seniors Appoints Robert M. Madonna President & CEO

On December 18, 2015 the Surrey Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Robert “Bob” Madonna as President and CEO beginning on January 4, 2016.   He brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in both business and not-for-profit to the organization.  Bruce Hopper, MD, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated, “We are confident that Bob’s extensive experience and varied background will lead Surrey effectively and grow the organization to serve the needs of even more older adults in our community.”

Surrey Services for Seniors is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community for 35 years.  Surrey’s mission is to help older adults live with independence and dignity and to continue as active members of the community.  Surrey offers a wide variety of programs, activities and lifelong learning opportunities from four community centers and support services to over 8,000 individuals each year.  The supportive services include everything from transportation to in-home services, such as home health care, personal assistance, house cleaning, companionship and care management.  Surrey also has an extensive volunteer program made up of over 1,000 volunteers. 

Prior to joining Surrey, Bob was a Principal and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for McCoy Enterprises, a leading corporate employee training and consulting firm.  Before that he held Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing positions at EchoBurst Corporation, a wireless Location Based Service provider, and Numerex Corporation, NASDAQ:NMRX, where he was responsible for the successful turnaround of four business units. His background also includes a diverse and successful career at Bell Atlantic Corporation (now Verizon).

Bob holds a BS in business from Widener University and an AAS from Delaware County Community College. He currently serves on the Board of the Ryan's Case for Smiles Foundation and the Chair of the Delaware County Community College Foundation. He has served as a Board of Trustee with The Silver Springs-Martin Luther School, and an Advisory Board member of Educational Excellence and Entrepreneurship (3E Institute) at West Chester University. In addition, Bob was a founding director of the Golden Cradle Adoption. He is also an active member with the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Network Group (GPSEG), helping executives in transition.

Bob was raised in Delaware County and now lives in Chester County.
