Depression and anxiety in older adults often go untreated for a variety of reasons; some think that depression is a normal part of aging, some think symptoms of anxiety are physical ailments that come with age. Whatever the reason, untreated depression and anxiety increase the risk of medical illness and cognitive decline. This may cause the assumption that depression and anxiety are part of aging when that does not have to be the case. There is help.
