Non-profit receives generous grant from The Foxwynd Foundation DAF, a Donor Advised Fund of Renaissance Charitable Foundation.
Media PA. January 7, 2026. Surrey is thrilled to announce it has received a $30,000 grant to help outfit the Media café to serve three times more people at its new location. Surrey’s café and meal program are part of the nonprofit’s outreach to address the growing problem of food insecurity and isolation among older adults in Delaware County. The Foxwynd Foundation DAF, a Donor Advised Fund of Renaissance Charitable Foundation, provided the generous donation.
The grant will help inspire community and connection through the new location. Social isolation is a serious health issue for older adults. The new Media center will have a modern, larger food preparation area and cafe. The cafe’s welcoming, light-filled, gathering space will significantly increase the number of individuals who are able to connect with others while enjoying a nutritious, subsidized lunch.
For homebound residents unable to come to the new Media center, the kitchen and prep area will enable Surrey to expand the home-delivered meals program administered by Surrey’s community partner, the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA).
“This grant aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to supporting older adults in Delaware County. By funding Surrey’s new café, we are helping more seniors access meals and social opportunities that improve their health and quality of life,” said Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of the Foxwynd Foundation.
Furthermore, Surrey expects that the number of seniors participating in center activities– exercise classes, creative programs, and technology instruction–before and after the meal will grow.
“Surrey’s meal program is a catalyst for engagement—a portal to a myriad of health, education, and inspirational programs. This partnership has enabled our two organizations to harness our diverse strengths, amplify our resources, and drive meaningful change together. Thanks to the Foxwynd Foundation DAF, a Donor Advised Fund of Renaissance Charitable Foundation grant, we are thrilled that we will be able to provide older adults in Delaware county with hot, nutritious meals and opportunities to connect.” Jill Whitcomb, President and CEO.
“We also would like to acknowledge the McLean Contributionship, who collaborated with us to fund this project, and the generous financial support of the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA).” Whitcomb adds.
